I flatlay quite often on my Instagram page, cannot lie and you know it if you're following me on Instagram. Based on the likes and comments I get I'm quite convinced you guys love them and I have been asked a couple of times what apps I use to edit my photos but also how I put my flatlays products together. So yeah, today it's all about how I flatlay and the applications I cannot live without.
HOW TO FLATLAY

I always do my flatlay with an item/ or items I want to highlight. I will then look around my room and see what other items could join the "start" product. I do this keeping in mind things have to be cohesive and logic. I usually throw in 3 to 6 different items ( lipsticks, cameras, magazines, sunglasses, food etc ... ). Depending on my mood or how I think the flatlay will look the best, I opt for a square arrangement, or something more carefree as if things were just thrown in the flatlay randomly ( which is not the case obviously , nothing in a flatlay is really random lol).

I love simple things , and this applies to how I edit as well. I currently use three applications when I edit my pictures: LIGHTROOM, SNAPSEED and VSCO.
LIGHTROOM
I'm not an expert at photo editing and Lightroom is the best choice for me. I find it to be user friendly and it's the program I use to edit my blog photos. There is so many details I like about Lightroom, but one feature I use a lot is the " Develop a Preset " tool. Basically, you can create a preset that is a representation of your branding, save it and apply it to future pictures. This really helps keep your feed and blog's pictures consistent.
SNAPSEED
Snapseed is the first app I use in my editing process. This app is magic. I'm always able to reach the tone I'm looking for by playing with the contrast, the shadows, ambiance and everything in between. It does not compromise the quality of my photos. Also, the brush tool is very practical and easy to use as soon as you get the hand of it.
VSCO
Next in line is the oh so famous VSCO. I use it to add the finishing touch to my photos. If you have noticed, I always bump up the highlights and contrast + lower the saturation . My current favourite filters are A9 and J1 then I go on and add a little bit of contrast, adjust the temperature, lower the saturation etc ... Whatever you do in VSCO do not crop your photos with the app. It will alter the quality. Been there, done that. I always save the original size then crop using my I-phone cropping tool.
So there they are, my tips and tricks to achieve a cohesive Instagram feed and master a flatlay. If I can give my two cents here, the less app you use to filter your photos, the more authentic they will look. Less is more darlings. If you have any questions please do not feel shy to reach out.
